The Medical Social Workers at the VNA are licensed by the State of New Jersey to provide short term counseling in the home and to coordinate community resources.

Social Workers foster communication and the expression of feelings related to the emotional, social, psychological, spiritual and financial issues which commonly impact families during a medical crisis.

VNA Medical Social Workers advocate for the patient while giving support to the family or caregiver. Assisting in problem solving and decision making enhances the ability of the patient and family to cope with a new diagnosis, chronic conditions and the complicated care needs associated with the end of life.
